The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed that Manchester City, have launched a legal bid to stop UEFA from banning them from the 2020/2021 Champions League, the UK Sun reports.
Pep Guardiola’s side face being booted out of Europe’s top competition, for allegedly breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP).
But City have now approached CAS to throw out the case before a final ruling is even delivered.
Last month, UEFA announced the matter would now be considered by a panel of judges, after a review from independent investigators.
The recommendation from the unit is that Guardiola’s men are banned from the lucrative tournament for a season, probably the 2020/2021 campaign.
City are challenging UEFA’s right to send the case to their adjudicatory chamber and their competence to sit in judgement on the club at all.
