Constantly, arguments and discussion rise on who really does it better the Fela way. Few years ago, of course Burna Boy wasn’t in the conversation. He was doing RnB with songs like Like To Party and Tonight.
But lately, Burna Boy has been serving it hot and his biggest rendition last year, Ye went places. It is the exact song Fela would have sang, vibes to and smoke weed to if he was still alive.
There were even rumors Burna Boy is a child of Fela since his mum was part of Fela’s dancers but you can deny the emotions Burna Boy expressed in Ye.
How he expressed the sufferings, emotions and struggles if an average Nigerian into a song is still a mystery.
But many argue Ojuelegba is the bigger song here. Many call it “The National Anthem“. One of the biggest records out of Africa.
The song that got WizKid on the world music map and later earned him three features with one of the World’s greatest, Drake.
Ojuelegba is an expression of appreciation to God on everything that has happened so far.
It’s identical to Ye since it makes mention of the struggles of people trying to succeed. But many have argued “Ojuelegba and its remix sounds better and sweet” than Ye.
That a Drake could want to jump on that record validates it as a bigger record. Has any international act jumped on Ye to do a remix? I’m just asking, I don’t know.
This issue has been dragged for months on which record Fela Kuti would be proud of, if he was to be alive.
So Guys, Let’s talk for the Legendary Fela
Between Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba” And Burna Boy’s “Ye” – Which One Gives You The Fela Feelings More?
Let’s hear from you
